Dr. Gerald R. Kane is Hans A. Norberg Professor and Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Tulsa. He was born September 16th, 1946 in Port Arthur, Texas. He has a BSEE from Washington University, St. Louis in 1968. He has received a M.S, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University, Houston, Tx in 1971 and 1972 respectively. He has taught at the University of Tulsa, Auburn University and Southern Methodist University.
Dr. Kane is a senior member of IEEE, ASEE, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alabama. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi. He has an honorary doctorate from the Moscow Institute for Electrical Engineering and Technical University (MIET) in Zelenograd, Russia. His research interests deal with VLSI design, especially new VLSI and computer architectures. Other research interests include microprocessor applications, computer assisted engineering, and Robotics.
Recently he was the Midwest Section Chairman of ASEE(2004) and Chairman of The TU Phi Kappa Phi chapter(2005). He has been involved for almost ten years in F.I.R.S.T. Robotics, mentoring two local hgh schools as well as an interdisciplinary TU senior robotics group in the design and constuction of high quality robots to engage in friendly competion. In the Spring of 2006, Gerry was elected Secretary/Treasurer of ECEDHA
During the Fall Semester, 2006, Dr. Kane is teaching EE3143 Electronics I, EE1001 Introduction to Electrical Engineering, and EE2162/2161 Digital Systems Principles.
